NATURAL BEAUTY + HEALTHY LIVING COLUMN BY MICHAELA

For a lot of you, this summer might be shaping out to look different than most. I know it is for me! Change is hard and can be super disappointing, but that just challenges us to make this summer one of the best! All five of these activities can be done alone or with friends, so customize them to fit your summer vibe! Let the good times roll…

1. FRUIT INFUSED WATER

I’m so obsessed with this; I make it every summer without fail. It’s healthy, delicious, and essentially free! All you have to do is fill a pitcher with water, slice up your fruit of choice and pop it into the water! To get the best flavor, let the fruit infuse into the water for a couple of hours before drinking. If you want to take this to the next level, fill an ice cube tray with the fruit water and freeze with popsicle sticks for a cold, refreshing treat!

2. BIBLE STUDY GROUP

One of the best things about Bible study groups is that they can be done in person or virtually! Virtual groups are a great way to keep in contact with friends who live far away or are social distancing. Try gathering a group for a devotional or even talk about what you’re learning from the Little Bible Plan! Godly friends and encouragement are a must in times of change.

3. ICED COFFEE (OR TEA)

Whatever your preference is, use this summer to master your perfect cup. Experiment with different flavors and try something new! I love learning different brewing methods and exploring with sweeteners. Take the challenge! You might just find a new favorite.

4. DIY SALT SCRUB W/LIME

I don’t know about you, but I love a good spa night! Something about ending the day with a little self care makes me so happy. To make this scrub you’ll need:

  • baking soda – 2 Tbs.
  • sea salt – 1 Tbs.
  • coconut oil – ½ tsp.
  • lime juice – ½ tsp.

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl. Use in the shower to exfoliate the body. I don’t recommend using on the face as the salt is too abrasive for delicate skin. TIP: If you don’t have a lime you can substitute with any citrus fruit (lemon, orange, grapefruit, etc).

5. SUNSHINE

Nothing feels more like summer than soaking up the sun! There isn’t a specific activity I had in mind for this, just get outside! Maybe take a walk, garden, draw with sidewalk chalk, chill by the pool, anything that gets your body moving and sun on your skin. Vitamin D will make you happy, just don’t forget the sunscreen!
