Devotion:
“Finally they’re opening up the gates!” Anna sings. “There’ll be actual real live people. It’ll be totally strange. But wow, am I so ready for this change!”
Anna is the perfect example of looking forward to the future with joy! Even after all that happened to her, she was still excited for what the future would bring her way.
One of the most wonderful promises we have from our Savior is joy. Joy during trials. Joy during hardship. Joy inexpressible. Joy that no one can take away. Joy, joy, joy! What a wonderful promise! And no matter what’s going on in our lives, whatever the circumstances, every believer in Jesus can have that joy.
But sometimes, thoughts of the future fill us with anything but joy. Fear of the unknown is crippling. All we can see is dark and bleak and scary. Trust me, I’ve been there many times, and I’m sure I’ll be there again. When I was a teenager, I went through a time where I was terrified of the future. I’d wake up every morning and instantly be bombarded by anxious thoughts and fears. But then I decided to give my worries to God. I started to really believe that He had a good plan for my future. When I finally realized that God already knows what my future holds—and He promises to guide me through it—wow, what a weight was lifted off my shoulders! And now, here in my 20’s, I can look back and see that God has guided me every step of the way.
If you’re scared about what’s going to happen tomorrow, next week, next year, or years from now, I encourage you to give your fears to the Lord. The secret to joy is trust in God! Laying all your fears down at the foot of the cross and trusting that He’ll take care of them. You get to choose—whether you let the devil’s lies consume you and cause you to be afraid of a future you have no control over, or whether you trust the God who IS in control and already knows what your future holds. No matter where you’re at in life, He has a plan and a purpose for your future—trust Him! And when this short life is through, finally they’ll be “opening up the gates” and you’ll spend eternity with Jesus! “For the first time in forever, there’ll be music, there’ll be light.” And that’s something to be joyful about indeed.
So why would I fear the future?
For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life.
Then afterward, when my life is through,
I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!
-Psalm 23:6

Thanks for the devotion
You’re very welcome! Thank you! 💚
INSTA💚💚 Im so excited to share this devotion with my teen girls at church! 💚💚💚
This is beautiful 🌹 I love it all. I’ve always struggled with this fear. There are just so many awful things that “could” happen. God is still on the throne, God is still good, and God definitely doesn’t want me to live this way. I love Anna so much, so to have her relating to this, even after all she’s been through, is truly great! Joyful indeed!
Very creative choice! Anna is definitely an example living a joyful life even through all the hardships. And now with the best holidays coming up and the year ending, joy can either extend or not, depending a person’s outlook. Thank you for the lesson on it and sharing your experience. I’m a bit younger than you hehe but anxieties are real, regardless of age. But it is true. God knows what He’s doing and He has our future planned. That’s honestly been my biggest struggle in this stage of my life. But at least there’s people that relate. We’ll get through it together and with the best caretaker! Keep up with your blog, it’s only growing from what I see 🙂
also, heard there was a giveaway, so I guess I’ll be adding 💚
