ENJOY THIS VERY SPECIAL GUEST POST WRITTEN BY MY SWEET FRIEND, MOLLY
We all know the Easter story.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again on the third day so that we could live forever with Him in Heaven. But do we really know what it means to live it out the way Christ intends us to? Turns out, God’s wonderful story didn’t stop there. We’re now a part of His plan, and day by day Jesus is trying to make Himself known through us!
We need to make Jesus known to everybody. We can do that by showing everyone that we are fearless followers of Christ, and we will do anything for Him. When Jesus died, He died a very painful death. He was mocked by everyone, spat on, and through it all, He suffered silently and humbly. Then, He was raised on the third day. Jesus had to die to Himself in so many ways; now think of something you can die to in your life. Maybe it’s movies you watch, songs you listen to, or books you read. Maybe even the people you hang out with have a negative influence on you, while sometimes things in life tempt you and cause you to compare. When those things become more of a priority and come before our relationship with God, there’s a problem.
Lately, I’ve been learning that no matter how hard it is to “die” to those things, God has a reward promised just for you. He will never forget anything that you do for His sake!
So, since spring is all about everything “new,” try now to reNEW your relationship with Jesus. Just like Jesus had to die to the temptation of “giving up” or reacting sinfully when He was tortured for us, you can:
- Find something that you can die to for Him. It can be anything in your life that may be threatening to take His place in your heart.
- Ask His forgiveness for making the person, thing, temptation, or thought more important than Him. Pray to Him, asking if He would help you rebuild His place in your heart. Once you ask forgiveness, He will forgive you and forget. God wants to reNEW His relationship with you. He loves you THAT much!
- Apply what you learned! If you see something taking Jesus’s place in your heart, it’s probably becoming an idol to you. When you find what’s been taking His place, be sure to ask His help to apply your conviction to your life.
When God helps your heart be more connected to His, others will notice. They will see your connection to God, and it might even encourage them to connect back to Him, too. God can make Himself known in incredible ways!
This Easter, when you remember Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, remember how you can die to your sinful ways and reNEW your connection to God. Once your heart is aligned to His, everyone who knows you will begin to see you living out the wonderful life God wants for you.
