ENJOY THIS SPECIAL GUEST POST BY ONE OF MY FAVORITE BLOGGERS, ALLISON MARIE!

Hi girls! I’m Allison, and I blog over at All Things Allison Marie. I’ve really been focusing on being single on my blog lately, and I was so excited when Jenny asked me to write a blog post to go with her future husband theme this month. It’s an honor!

So, have any of y’all ever thought that your life would begin when you found that perfect man and got married? I know I have. First off, that man is not going to be perfect, which I’m sure you’ve already figured out. And also, your life can begin right now. It can even be amazing because your main purpose in life is not to get married, but to know Jesus and make Him known.

Your main purpose in life is not to get married, but to know Jesus and make Him known.

I just want you to know that you can thrive as a single girl while also preparing for your future husband. So today, I’ve listed 6 things you can do right now as you wait for your future husband! Let’s get started!

1. PRAY FOR YOUR FUTURE HUSBAND

This is one of my favorite things I’m doing right now as a single girl! Praying for your future husband is so important because prayer is so powerful. You have no idea the impact your prayers could have on him. He could be going through something tough right now, and your prayers could be a huge help.

You can check out the blog post I recently wrote on praying for your future husband here.

2. SAVE UP FOR A TRIP YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED TO TAKE

You have so much freedom as a single girl that you will not have when you are married! I encourage you to take advantage of this and take a vacation or go on a mission’s trip. It can be somewhat expensive, so start saving and planning now. My friend and I are taking a trip this summer, and I am so excited! The memories will be priceless.

Or if a vacation is not very practical for you, save up to do something fun close to home. Something that you have always wanted to do!

3. GUARD YOUR HEART

This is another huge one! Proverbs 4:23 tells us to guard our hearts, and I truly think it is for our protection. Guarding your heart really is controlling your body, thoughts, and emotions. It helps us to save ourselves physically and emotionally for our future husbands.

I’ve also written a blog post on guarding your heart as a single girl if you’d like to read it here.

4. FIND A GOOD CHURCH

I believe it is so important to be a part of a good church. It helps to keep you accountable, find good Christian friends, and fellowship with God and other believers! It may take some searching, but I encourage you to find a church that teaches straight from the Bible, without adding or taking anything away, and strengthens your spiritual walk. It is so worth it!

5. READ THROUGH THE WHOLE BIBLE

As a single girl, now is the perfect time to read through the whole Bible! The Bible is a chronological story of God’s plan of redemption for His people. For you. It’s God’s love letter to you.

Reading through the Bible is such a blessing and will help you learn more about and grow closer to Jesus. And that’s the goal, right?

6. LEARN HOW TO DO SOMETHING NEW

Like I’ve mentioned, you have more freedom now as a single girl! Take this time to learn how to do something new. Big or small! You could learn how to start a blog (I highly recommend it 😉), cook, crochet, do calligraphy, or play a certain sport. Learn how to do something that you enjoy, will help you in the future, or maybe even encourage or help somebody else!

I truly hope this encourages you to make the most of your single years as you wait on your future husband. Remember, you aren’t even promised marriage. You are only promised this moment you have right now. Enjoy it and glorify God!

Oh, and I’m not saying that you can’t do these things once you are married, I just know that you have more freedom as a single girl, and these things can be so fun and memorable or impactful!

So which of these is your favorite? Which are you going to implement in your own life? Would you add anything? I’d love to connect with you in the comments!

With all my love, Allison Marie

  1. I like the vacation aspect, guarding your heart and doing something new. I like all points highlighted actually
And I’ll like to add that one should make it a habit to remain happy (consciously and deliberately)
